Police in Southern California were on the scene of a car crash on Highway 33 in 1990 when they stumbled across partial remains some 60 feet away from the wreckage. Who they belonged to baffled investigators for more than three decades, but they’ve finally made a breakthrough. The woman they found has now been identified as mother of four, Patricia Diana Hunt Fielding, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said. “While her identity is now known, much about Patricia’s life and the circumstances surrounding her death remains a mystery,” police said. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, and forensic genetic genealogy firm Othram reached the conclusion through a combined effort. “Investigators are hoping that sharing her name will help bring forward information about her life,” the sheriff’s office said. “Where she was before her remains were discovered, and what happened to her.” It added: “Even after decades, it’s never too late to help bring answers to a family and give a name back to someone who has waited far too long to be identified,” officials said.

Two hikers stranded for 36 hours in freezing conditions on Mount Shasta in northern California were rescued on Tuesday afternoon. The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office said it received a distress call at 10:20 p.m. on Monday from a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman from Salt Lake City, Utah, who were freezing and unable to complete their descent. When they called, the hikers were at approximately 11,000 ft and had only planned for a day hike while their friend summited the mountain. They did not have adequate clothing, food, or water to safely wait out the night from their position, the sheriff’s office said, noting that temperatures on the mountain by this point in the night had plummeted to 14-16 degrees. They were told to continue their descent to stay warm, but their phones lost power after calling authorities at about 2 a.m. Tuesday to report their new position. Searchers located the missing hikers at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. “Fortunately, both hikers were uninjured, and were ultimately able to climb out of the gulch with assistance,” the sheriff’s office said.

Three children, aged five, eight, and 11, and a teacher were killed during a Thursday shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Police confirmed the shooting at a press conference on Thursday night, noting a child, seven, and a 54-year-old teacher were in critical condition. No names were immediately released. Tom Arnold has slammed sitcom legend Chuck Lorre as an “angry, dry drunk” after Lorre torched Roseanne Barr, Arnold’s Trumpy ex-wife, in his new memoir Sitcom.

Lorre, 73, exposed Barr’s aggressive behavior on the set of the hit sitcom Roseanne, where he and Arnold, 67, were writers. “There was malice,” he wrote, adding Barr “fundamentally hated that other people wrote words that she would say.” Arnold fired Lorre at Barr’s request in 1992, though Barr has claimed she fired Lorre herself.

Barr, 73, has since gone full MAGA; her racist tweets resurfacing canceled the 2018 Roseanne reboot after just nine episodes.

The Russian president led a gathering of government agencies and business leaders, one of whom was Stefan Duerr, the German-born founder and CEO of EkoNiva, a Russian-based agricultural holding company. EkoNiva describes itself as the country’s top raw milk producer, maintaining a herd of over 120,000 dairy cows in over 40 regions. It produces milk, butter, cream, and cheeses, as well as 75,000 tons of seeds annually.
