That’s A Wrap

An adult film infiltrates L.A.’s Memorial Coliseum. Aurora Snow on being a featured extra in the film.

The Gangbang Girl #32, filmed on location at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, wasn’t a typical porn shoot from the beginning. And while Anabolic Studio’s gangbangs never are typical, I have a particularly vivid memory of this one, since I wasn’t the one having sex on camera. Instead I was a featured extra, the token porn star dressed in a black and white Anabolic Studio’s cheer leader uniform—a uniform I kept as a souvenir.

There were over fifteen porn actors, not counting the crew, getting ready in the USC locker room. People were changing all around me. Naked men stroking themselves hard to get ready for their scene wandered the locker room, drinking in all the sights. I quickly donned my cheerleader’s uniform and then went exploring with my video camera, until I was caught and forced to delete the footage.

The owner of Anabolic had paid a pretty penny for this location. There was a guy who we met there that let everyone one in, and he was probably the same person who locked up for us afterwards. I’ll never forget the sense of awe from being in such a famous locker room for an XXX production. It was the most memorable place I have ever been for an adult film.

And that was the consensus among us all: “Wow. This is damn cool! We’re shooting porn at USC.”

It was the kind of thing we all wanted to shout with excitement. This was the Trojan’s Coliseum. Unprecedented. I knew it had never been done before. Something big was about to happen, history was about to be made and yet we couldn’t share what we did publicly (At least not with pictures or video, but that didn’t stop any of us from bragging to our friends later.)

Out on that USC field I cheered for the girl getting every hole stuffed, remembering what it had been like being that girl. Mine wasn’t done at the USC stadium, it was done on a huge basketball court somewhere, the specific location I can’t recall. It’s harder to remember these things when you’re focused on your scene.

But luckily, this time I had no scene. I was a cheerleader, there to motivate the men with the occasional topless flash and panty-teasing skirt flip. It was already very late at night—we had to wait until well after dark to begin filming—and were required to wrap it up in only a few hours. There were a couple of camera operators, one with a huge jib for all of the overhead sweeping shots. Having that kind of equipment there lent a real Hollywood feel to what we were creating, even if it was XXX-rated.

I trusted the ethics of Anabolic, but I had a nagging suspicion that we shouldn’t be allowed to do this at the Coliseum. After all, it is porn. Typical porn sets are at rented mansions, dirty apartments, one night hotel rooms, or junkyards.

There was a moment when we all thought we would be caught. Mid-gangbang, the featured girl was pleasing about as many men as her body permitted when a helicopter flew over us, its loud blades whopping through the sky. My heart sank. I’d never been to jail and for a brief moment thought I was about to be in trouble for getting caught despite not even being naked.

It was a police helicopter. Some performers paused mid-stroke to look up, others awaiting their turn with the girl shrank from the chopper’s spotlight. The show-offs already on the girl continued with the job at hand. Sometimes being in porn is about giving a show to whoever is willing to watch—that night it was a police helicopter. The police circled above, hovering, taking in the show. When they had their fill, they left. And, since they didn’t return, we thought what we were doing was perfectly legal.

With the information we had at the time, it never crossed our minds that this was state owned property, paid for by tax-payers. This was quite possibly the most expensive and famous location we had ever filmed on, and it never would have occurred to me that something was amiss. After all, we didn’t have to sneak into the Coliseum, we had paid for the time and permission and were met there with an invitation and keys.
