It's a poignant month for Caroline Kennedy, whose father, John F. Kennedy, was assassinated 50 years ago this month. On Tuesday, she was sworn in as U.S. ambassador to Japan by Secretary of State John Kerry. Back in September, during her unanimous confirmation hearing in front of the Senate, the former first daughter paid homage to her father. "As a World War II veteran who served in the Pacific, he had hoped to be the first sitting president to make a state visit to Japan," she said. Kennedy was an active supporter of President Obama's first campaign, which was the first time she endorsed a non-family candidate.
