MAGA Blog Gateway Pundit Files Bankruptcy Amid Election Defamation Lawsuits

Jim Hoft, the founder of popular MAGA conspiracy blog The Gateway Pundit, announced on Wednesday that the site is filing for bankruptcy as it faces lawsuits accusing it of peddling defamatory lies about the 2020 presidential election. Parroting the rhetoric of former President Donald Trump, Hoft claimed in a message on his site that he’s the victim of “progressive liberal lawfare attacks” and the “radical left’s efforts to silence The Gateway Pundit.” At the same time, he informed readers that the blog would continue to publish throughout the bankruptcy, framing the filing as “a common tool for reorganization and to consolidate litigation.” While Hoft did not name any specific lawsuits, The Gateway Pundit is being sued by Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss, two Georgia election workers who claim they faced threats over bogus allegations made by the site. Former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani has already been ordered to pay Freeman and Moss $148 million for defaming the pair after the 2020 election, prompting him to file for bankruptcy in December.
