According to a new study, plastic fibers are contaminating tap water around the world. The study, led by Orb Media, found that 83 percent of tap water samples from more than a dozen countries were contaminated. The United States’ contamination rate was even higher, at 94 percent. Plastic fibers were found in water coming from congressional buildings, the Environmental Protection Agency headquarters, and Trump Tower, among other places. “We have enough data from looking at wildlife, and the impacts that it’s having on wildlife, to be concerned,” said Dr. Sherri Mason, who spearheaded the study. “If it’s impacting [wildlife], then how do we think that it’s not going to somehow impact us?”
