Apple says it will help iPhone users fight their device addiction with a string of new features that will limit notifications and monitor screen time. As part of the company’s new device-addiction initiative, users will no longer be bombarded with missed notifications every morning, instead being greeted with a “Good Morning” screen that makes the alerts less overwhelming, executive Craig Federighi announced at Apple’s annual developers conference Monday. Another new feature, Screen Time, will monitor the amount of time users spend in each app and allow them to set time limits or receive an alert to shut it off once they reach their limit. In addition, parental controls will be enhanced to allow parents to choose times when certain apps will be off-limits for their children. The initiative comes after two major Apple investors called on the company to take action to stop phone addiction among young people.
