An internal email suggests that Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt approved a large pay raise for an aide in March—despite his claims that he "didn't know" about it, The Atlantic reported on Monday. Sarah Greenwalt, senior counsel to Pruitt, wrote an email to HR and “definitively stated that Pruitt approves and was supportive of her getting a raise," according to a senior administration official who viewed the thread. Another administration official told the publication that the email “essentially says, ‘The administrator said that I should get this raise.’” The Atlantic reported last week that Greenwalt received a $56,765 raise, while Millan Hupp, Pruitt's director of scheduling, received a $28,130 raise. When asked about the report, Pruitt said that he "didn’t know they got the pay raises until yesterday."
