President Trump hailed a “Big Victory” in Tuesday’s midterm elections despite the fact that the House of Representatives will shift to Democratic control after a series of key GOP-held districts—including in Virginia and Florida—flipped from red to blue. However, Republicans are set to strengthen their grip on the Senate. Tweeting Wednesday morning, Trump said: “Received so many Congratulations from so many on our Big Victory last night, including from foreign nations (friends) that were waiting me out, and hoping, on Trade Deals. Now we can all get back to work and get things done!” Trump reportedly called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) late Tuesday to congratulate her on reclaiming a Democratic majority in the House. The call was announced by Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, shortly after White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters Trump had no plans to congratulate Pelosi.
