The father of an Indonesian man killed when a Lion Air Boeing 737 Max-8 plunged into the Java Sea this October has filed a lawsuit against Boeing, claiming that the company failed to warn airlines of a critical system flaw that likely caused the crash, according to a Friday report from Reuters. As The Daily Beast previously reported, a system error in the new 737 models could cause the plane’s nose to precipitously dip without any input from pilots—and that’s what appeared to happen in the Oct. 29 Lion Air crash. Pilots were reportedly not told of this possibility when learning to fly the new model. The plaintiff’s son, Reuters notes, was due to be married this week. In total, 189 people were killed in the crash, which is still under investigation. A preliminary report is expected this month.
