White House senior adviser Jared Kushner met with Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) on Tuesday, according to a White House press release. Kushner, along with Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt and Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook, discussed the “increasing cooperation” between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, and “the Trump Administration’s efforts to facilitate peace between the Israelis and Palestinians,” the statement reads. “Additionally, they discussed ways to improve the condition of the entire region through economic investment,” the White House added. The release did not mention Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, who was killed late last year in Istanbul’s Saudi Arabian consulate. The crown prince has been embroiled in scandal after U.S. intelligence reportedly concluded that he ordered Khashoggi’s killing.
