Americans gathered to mark the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in memorials in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania—the sites where nearly 3,000 people perished on an otherwise beautiful Tuesday morning. New York Police Department Joint Terrorism Task Force Det. Patrick Lantry, who was at the scene of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, visits the Flight 93 National Memorial, which officially opened Thursday in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Retired United Airlines Capt. Ron Reibold, 72, who had been scheduled to pilot Flight 93, and worked with many of the airline staff that died, visits the Flight 93 National Memorial. The pin is to commemorate flight attendant Lorraine Bey, who died on Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001.
