The United Nations estimates that 12.3 million individuals live in forced labor worldwide, and about 70 percent of them are women or girls trafficked into sex slavery. Watch President Barack Obama’s anti-trafficking ambassador, Luis CdeBaca, discuss ways to use law enforcement and individual rehabilitation to fight the epidemic--the largest slave trade in world history--alongside other international advocates.
Sunitha Krishnan is the founder of the Indian anti-trafficking organization Prajwala, who survived gang rape to rescue other women and children from lives of forced prostitution. Shoma Chaudhury is the managing editor of Tehelka, a crusading Indian newsmagazine that has published incisive investigations of the sex-trafficking industry. Dao Tuyet Lien broke free from forced labor in Samoa to earn two college degrees, launch her own business, and start a family.
The discussion will be moderated by Tina Brown, Daily Beast co-founder and editor-in-chief.
