Some 35 million kids will go trick-or-treating this weekend, but it’s some goodies that might prove most frightening. The Daily Beast crunches the numbers to rank the 40 popular candies.

Americans consumed a whopping 24.3 pounds of candy per person last year, with the largest percentage of that figure centering around Halloween. Not all candy, however, is created equal -- some are relatively mild indulgence. Others double as a sugar-and-fat bomb.

The Daily Beast culled data on 40 popular Halloween candies from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Nutrient Data Library, and from candy makers. The candies were ranked head-to-head based on their percentage from the median in calories, saturated fat, carbohydrates, and sugar, with each of those four criteria weighed evenly. The list is presented in order from least-to-most-healthy.
