BORN THIS WEEK Rafael Nadal (June 3, 1986)

Gemini is ruled by winged Mercury, named for the puckish god of tricksters. With his impish grin, Nadal is credited with fleetness of foot on the tennis court and the fastest spinning ball, averaging of 3200 revolutions per minute. Gemini’s motto is “I think” and Nadal’s mental game is unrivaled. Born into this mutable-air sign, symbolizing versatility, Nadal adapts easily to court surface, weather conditions, opponents’ tactics and other variables. Like fellow Geminis Johnny Depp and Errol Flynn, Nadal is partial to pirate styles. Arrr.

Aries

The slate is being wiped clean of relationship issues. By the Solar Eclipse on Wednesday, you’re prepared to move on, in, or out of an existing bond. Meanwhile, resist the urge to mop the floor with an errant partner. With Mercury zipping into its airy home of Gemini, avoid rushing deals, as facts and figures need time to solidify. Restraint is your mantra at work. Trouble stems from forgetting this. There is much power in letting things slide—not that you can’t take notes of others’ shady behavior for later. But pretend that most antics are beneath you and soon they will be. This shows leadership acumen, which won’t go unnoticed.

Taurus

You’re off the hook. And we’re not employing vernacular here. You are saved from a grilling, goading, or grounding for some overtly selfish actions. For whatever reason, would-be accusers are turning a blind eye. Or are they? Neptune retrograde on Friday begins a period of transparency. This will especially expose Taurus’ penchant for half-truths. So be forthright, because nobody will let you slide at this point. Like the Minotaur in his labyrinth, you set up a maze others must work through to get to the true you. But it can become a prison. People want to connect with you, not to be sent around the bend.

Gemini

By the Solar Eclipse in Gemini, on Wednesday, you feel emotionally left out to dry. The weekend will have brought bickering, surfacing age-old frustrations. But about four months ago, when dealing with similar circumstance, you made a pact with yourself to put individual freedom first. So here we are again at the crossroads. You’re mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. Creative work, that is to say self-expression, must be front-loaded. If it means retreating to a one-room cabin in the woods so be it. Just remember: Don’t prioritize yourself out of retaliation. Nobody but you has been stopping you.

Cancer

All new things surround you. With a Solar Eclipse on Wednesday, and a Grand Cross involving the Cancer Moon on Thursday, you’re almost pathologically putting the past behind you. Elimination is your watchword, whether chucking 20th century memorabilia or relationships hinged on reminiscence. You take up technology’s offer to streamline and simplify your life. Nobody on Star Trek has junk drawers. Aesthetically, too, for instance, steel and concrete no longer seem cold and impersonal, but promise order and meditative calm. Saturday brings rest, curling up with your tablet, Skype-ing pals around the planet.

Leo

Is this thing on? You’re urged to be the voice of a community project, or otherwise communicate a collective agenda to a great many people. But you have trepidation. Closer inspection reveals it’s due to your ego, which is hungry for credit and kudos. Mercury entering your zone of universal concerns, on Thursday, pushes you beyond hubris into humility. The upshot is: You garner the most praise when you least require it. Neptune retrograde, from Friday, signals the end of deluding yourself in a heady bond. Playing patron to a protégé cum paramour? More like dallying with a dilettante.

Virgo

Feeling financially flush can be its own reward. Monday, the Taurus Moon conjunct Mars and Venus inspires the urge to splurge. But acting on that impulse can cause depressive backlash. Satisfaction now comes from banking new resources and using what you have. Besides, there’s something so Yankee chic about, say, gardening in your moth-eaten early 90’s Gaultier trousers or driving to market in that Dodge Dart that never dies. Hyperbole aside: The waste in your life needs addressing. So when Jupiter hits Taurus, Saturday, take inventory of excess, maybe donating any surplus to benefit others.

Libra

Metaphysical interconnectedness becomes apparent as bodily complaints flare up or ease according to your emotional and/or psychological state. This forces you to still your mind and avoid people and situations that rile. Wednesday’s Solar Eclipse ushers in a new era of putting well being first. Pushing yourself to the limit helped you survive—no longer doing so is how you now thrive. Saturn in Libra joins in a Grand Cross configuration by Friday. This gives you the requisite discipline to let life unfold without manipulating it to achieve desired outcomes. Thus hanging back, you make more room for love or money.

Scorpio

Yours is a consistent vision, both artistically and in business. This is a secret to your success. But trends can run counter to your principles, putting you at odds with the zeitgeist. With the Solar Eclipse, Wednesday, you may feel like yesterday’s mashed potatoes; but seize this as an opportunity to fall under the radar and enjoy the fruits of your labors. You now have more time to create or brainstorm, something you bemoaned being in short supply. So take full advantage, digging deeper into your aesthetic or ideology, expanding it to come up with new, signature “products” people can next buy into.

Sagittarius

You are so On now that some may wonder if you come with an Off switch. Your bold brand of charisma not withstanding, staid types might see outsized expressions of your personality as character defects. So remember your inside voice, and leave some air in the room for others to breathe. With ruler Jupiter entering Taurus, Friday, increased stability is in store; this is likely inspiring the need to cut loose, act up, or sow wild oats. Brides and grooms to-be are especially susceptible. Dear Sadge, you wouldn’t rebel so much against the circumstances of your life if you more consciously chose them in the first place.

Capricorn

Paper-pushing routines fall away, replaced by an unpredictable regularity of creative output and increased financial flow. It is said that Capricorns live backwards, becoming younger with age. You prove it now, penciling in play dates and artsy-craftsy outings on the lines in your calendar once reserved for Orwellian tasks. Wednesday’s Solar Eclipse determines you will keep codependence out of relationships, mind your own business, exclusively, and carve out time for yourself, foremost, in any given day. With Neptune retrograde, from Friday, you pick up an abandoned course of study and, ultimately, soar with it.

Aquarius

The same but different: You want to build on past successes, which are the result of tried and true methods. However, an evolutionary element is needed to keep professional work from becoming stale. Neptune retrograde by Friday prescribes taking no short cuts, perhaps employing forgotten methodologies to give projects a distinctive, hands-on feel. Similarly, social interaction has become mechanized, punctuated by the same string of annual shindigs. The anonymity of such events has appeal, but you’re being cosmically nudged in a direction that requires more personal interest and investment in a circle of intimates.

Pisces

When your ruler Neptune goes retrograde on Friday, everyone will be paying attention to the proverbial wo/man behind the curtain: You. The true story of your life might require honest telling. But the fact is that it’s Pisces’ nature to be fabulous, which entails a bit of fabrication. The simple paradox is: You are who you imagine yourself to be. And often this true self doesn’t jive with your personal history. So it requires some rewriting. Anybody who doesn’t grasp this perfect pretzel logic is unworthy of you. The Solar Eclipse, Wednesday, meanwhile, brings welcome news regarding real estate, real or metaphoric.
