Four-Year-Old Girl Called "Uncooperative Suspect"
A 4-year-old girl who had to undergo a pat-down at a Kansas airport last week became hysterical after agents yelled at her and called her an uncooperative suspect, the girl’s grandmother said Wednesday. The Transportation Security Administration defended its actions as the incident has garnered media attention, saying that it had explained to the family why the additional security measures were needed and that the agents did not believe or suggest that the child was carrying a firearm. Prior to the incident, new procedures were put in place to reduce pat-downs of children. “They yelled, ‘We are going to shut down the airport if you don’t grab her,’” the girl’s grandmother said of the agents when the child tried to run from them.
95-year-old Cancer Patient
What’s 95 years old, cancer-stricken, in a wheelchair, and wearing an adult diaper? If you ask the TSA, it’ll say it’s their latest pat-down subject. In this incident, the elderly traveler was at a Florida airport screening post when she was taken to a private room after something “suspicious” was found on her leg. Watch as her daughter describes the traumatic event.
The Shirtless Little Boy Goes Viral
In November 2010, a video from Salt Lake City in which a shirtless little boy gets patted down by TSA agents went viral. As the blogosphere spread the story, the incident galvanized the anti-TSA crowd against the new, extreme airport-security measures. Eventually, the TSA was forced to respond, saying that in an effort to “expedite the screening,” the boy’s father voluntarily removed his son’s shirt. Watch this video and decide who’s telling the truth. The footage starts after the boy removed his shirt.
Six Year Old Receives Pat-Down
Just when you thought the TSA may have learned a lesson about-pat downs for children, this happens. In this video from April, a TSA worker stops a 6 year old for a screening. Her parents watch as their daughter obliges.
“Don't Touch My Junk!”
John Tyner was in San Diego on his way to a hunting trip when he was stopped for a pat-down. The 31-year-old software engineer recorded the altercation with his cell phone, which captured his now-famous words: “Don't touch my junk!”
Urine-Soaked Flight
The story of the 6 year old is bad, but this one may be worse: A bladder-cancer survivor in Michigan said that a bag he wears to collect his urine was patted roughly by the TSA, causing the urine to spill on his clothing. The 61 year old was apparently humiliated and in tears. He changed the bag but didn’t have time to change his clothes before the flight.
Pat-Down Gone Wrong for Miss USA
When former Miss USA Susie Castillo opted out of the full-body scan at Dallas/Fort Worth International, TSA employees said her only other option was a full-body pat-down. That's when a female employee allegedly went too far and groped the pageant winner. Warning: her retelling of the incident is not pretty.
