George Galloway has returned to Parliament, winning a by-election in Bradford, Yorkshire. Bradford was once known as a textile center, but industry decayed long ago, and today the town's main claim to fame is as the site of the first protests against Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses.

George Galloway is the MP notorious for—among other appalling acts—being suspended from the House of Commons for concealing the true source of money he received from Iraq for a dubious "charity" he controlled. The money was diverted by Saddam Hussein's government from the U.N. oil for food program.
