Remember this photo? Well, Australia's night sky probably isn't getting any darker. The Wall Street Journal reports wildfire conditions are getting far worse in the drought-striken state.

Tuesday "will be perhaps the worst fire-danger day this state has ever faced," Barry O'Farrell, the New South Wales state premier, told reporters Monday. Early Tuesday temperatures in some parts of the state were already approaching 40 degrees Celsius. Fire crews warned residents of Kybean Valley to evacuate the area in advance of an approaching bush fire.

Fires are also blazing south of New South Wales in Victoria state and the Australian Capital Territory, home to the nation's Parliament in Canberra.
