Shock here at the Royalist following credible reports in People magazine that Prince Harry and his girlfriend of two years, the dance graduate Cressida Bonas, have broken up because she is ''too needy".The break-up comes as a major shock, with the couple having apparently been closer than ever in recent months.Friends of the royals had been confidently predicting an engagement announcement later this year, but it now seems that is not going to happen. But People is claiming that "after dating for nearly two years, Harry, 29, recently confided in friends that things were not going well with the 24-year-old beauty."He found her too needy and it just wasn't working out," says a source close to the prince."

A source told Gordon Rayner of the Telegraph: "The relationship has certainly at least paused for a breather. It is virtually impossible to have a successful romance and relationship in the full glare of the world’s media.”

Asked what might happen in the future, the source said: “It’s impossible to say because I don’t think the two of them know either.”

Harry's official spokesperson refused to comment. If the break up is for real, then the timing is pretty appalling.Cressida—known as Cressy to her friends—attended her first official event last month, supporting Prince Harry as he gave a speech at the launch of WE Day, a charity event for Save The Children at Wembley Arena. So with the relationship only being official for just over a month it looks like there has been a major disaster if it is over already.A good friend of the prince, the polar explorer Inge Solheim, recently referred to the couple as 'two young lovers' after he was criticised for providing a ski trip to Kazakhastan for them.Earlier this month, Harry went on a ‘chicken and chips boys’ night out’ to a smart private club in Mayfair with his friends James Haskell, the England rugby star, stockbroker Adam Bidwell, and Viscount Erleigh. The group was overheard teasing Harry about reports that he will soon be walking down the aisle.
