Are You Really Surprised Keira Knightley Posed Topless?

Making News

No, the actress’s new shots in Interview are not a ‘victory for small-breasted women.’ Knightley’s always been relaxed about showing off her chest.

The September issue of Interview magazine, subtitled “The Photographer's Issue,” is catching major traction thanks to Patrick Demarchelier’s sultry monochrome photographs of a topless Keira Knightley with wet hair, low-cut trousers, and elbow-length lace gloves.

The British actress—who publicly drew attention to the fact that her cleavage was digitally enhanced in a poster for the 2004 film King Arthur—features alongside other stars such as Nicole Kidman, Naomi Campbell, Lea Seydoux, Amber Valletta, and Daria Werbowy in the issue.

But Keira’s decision to pose topless is not so strange as some are making out—and nor are we convinced it’s a “victory for small-breasted women.”

The actress has always had a relaxed attitude to showing off her boobs.

“I don’t mind exposing my tits because they’re so small—people aren’t really that interested,” she told Mario Testino in 2012.

In a transcribed chat with Demarchelier in Interview, Keira tells Demarchelier, “You said something really interesting to me on the shoot: ‘You have to relax your face, because that’s what good movie acting is, a relaxed face. It’s the same thing as having pictures taken.’”

Keira, we think he might have been telling you to stop pouting, love.

Advice, it seems, you were loath to take.
