Rapper Flavor Flav Wants U.S. ‘Boots on the Ground’ to Kill ISIS

Bring the Noise

In a twitter rant, the hip-hop artist showed himself firmly in the neo-con camp on American foreign policy.

Hip-hop star Flavor Flav on Thursday called for a large international coalition, led by the United States, to invade Syria and Iraq and exterminate ISIS.

The Public Enemy founding member and VH1 reality TV star went on a Twitter rant calling out American policy towards ISIS. His tirade came shortly after a new report detailing how the jihadist group has been selling, crucifying, and burying alive little kids.

“United States shoulda wiped out [ISIS] after the first American got his head cut off & it was only 30,000 [members] then,” he tweeted. “How much more will it take U.S. … [b]efore we put boots on the ground and wipe them out?”

Below is the string of tweets, in which he reminds the United Nations that it must act to “wipe them out”:

This puts Flav in a far more hawkish position than President Obama, who has been extremely reluctant to commit combat troops to the ISIS war. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), for instance, has said that it would require 10,000 U.S. “boots on the ground” to beat ISIS in Syria. And Flav’s thinking has won him at least one big fan in neoconservative circles.

“[I] wish he were a senior official in the Obama administration,” Bill Kristol, editor of neocon flagship The Weekly Standard, wrote in an email, when asked about Flav’s interventionist views.

But Flav is no partisan. However passionately he feels about deploying more troops to Syria and Iraq, he’s generally not one to care much about politics and policy, foreign or domestic.

“I don’t give a fuck about politics,” he told Stealth magazine in 1999. “I hate politics. Never did nothing for me. So I don’t get into it… ’Cause a guy like me, I don’t fuck with politics. Politics never done nothing for me.”

At least on the issue of waging war on ISIS, Flavor Flav seems to be closer to John McCain than he is to Barack Obama.
