Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush Returns to SNL to Bash Donald Trump

STRATEGERY

Saturday Night Live brought back Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush this week to share his take on Donald Trump and announce that he’s running for president again. Screw the Constitution!

Thank God for Will Ferrell as George W. Bush. After a lackluster cold open last week in which Taran Killam’s Donald Trump shared his naughty or nice list with America, Saturday Night Live stepped things up by bringing back one of its all-time greatest presidential impersonators.

“This is an important day,” Bush began “I made a big decision: I’m entering the race for the President of the United States of America.”

“The field of Republicans out there is so messed up, I figure it makes you miss me, doesn’t it?” he continued.

Ferrell’s Bush proceeded to mock the current field of GOP candidates, including Ben Carson, who he didn’t think could handle a trip to China, where “you have to talk loudly so they will understand.” As for being a brain surgeon, he added, “I got news for him: running the country is not brain surgery.”

Carly Fiorina? “She’s not qualified in any way to be president,” he said. “In many ways, she reminds me of me.”

Naturally, Ferrell’s W. saved the worst for “this knucklehead” Trump. “I’ll tell you something, when I get in a bad mood, I just picture his big fat orange Oompa Loompa face and I just piss my pants,” Bush said, comparing the frontrunner’s Muslim ban to trying to keep all the leprechauns out of the country.

And then there was “poor Jeb.” As Bush 43 put it, “You’ve got to admit it's a pretty good plot twist that I turned out to be the smart one.”

“Running a government is kind of like driving a school bus,” he explained. “You don't want a crazy person driving that bus. You want a simple, underachieving, not very educated but reliable guy behind that wheel. Someone with a steady hand who will be on time and get into one or two but no more than four accidents a year.”

“You already know that someone, and that someone is me,” Bush concluded. I’ll see you in the White House. And live from new york, it’s Saturday night!”
