Piss in Your Socks, Charge Your Phone

URINE LUCK

You’ll never miss another moment of your favorite show.

A team of researchers from the University of the West of England’s Bristol BioEnergy Centre have been thinking outside the box—way outside—when it comes to new and exciting ways to keep your personal electronics fully juiced, developing the first self-sufficient microbial fuel technology (MFC) generator.

Basically, you’d urinate into a series of tubes connected to a pump in your socks, which is activated via walking. This then circulates the pee, passing it over the MFC system, which converts the biochemical energy used for microbial growth into voltage for your social-media surfing. Well, that’s the long-term goal, anyway. Intrigued? Watch the video above for the whole story, and somebody tell GHW Bush.
