BEYOND THE WALL

All of a sudden everything Donald Trump has been saying makes perfect sense.

This whole time, maybe Donald Trump was just auditioning for Game of Thrones.

As the GOP frontrunner heads towards another win in Nevada this week, America finally has the expertly-crafted Donald Trump/Game of Thrones mashup we’ve been waiting for, courtesy of YouTuber Huw Parkinson.

There he is, rudely turning Daenerys Targaryen and her vaguely Muslim-looking cohorts away from the gates of Meereen. Trump confuses the hell out of Tyrion Lannister and most significantly, argues against letting the Wildlings who live north of the Wall into Westeros.

“We have no border, we have no control, people are flooding across,” Trump says to the men of the Night’s Watch. “We need to build a wall. And it has to be built quickly.” Of course, in the world of Game of Thrones, there already is a giant wall of ice that would impress even Trump. It even has a “beautiful, big fat door” like he’s always wanted.

Long before this latest mashup however, Seth Meyers was drawing parallels between Trump and the world as George R.R. Martin sees it. All the way back in June, Meyers laid out his case. “I’m not sure about president, but I do know a recently vacated position that could use a man with your kind of thinking, in regards to walls,” Meyers joked.

Like the rest of us, Meyers couldn’t imagine just how close Trump would be to actually becoming president eight months later.
