Summer is fast approaching, and that means one thing: staying inside and watching an obscene amount of TV.

While some of you might be kicking off summer this Memorial Day weekend by, say, spending time relaxing with friends and family, the rest of us will gladly end up sitting at home, salivating over the newest content beaming into our eyeballs from one of our precious, precious screens.

As always, Netflix has a whole bunch of new shows and movies ready to drop this coming June, and a whole crop of stuff that is going away. Mark your calendars for the hottest Netflix releases of the summer season, and stream these favorites before they disappear into the ether.

Three New Arrivals to Get Excited About

Jurassic Park I, II, & III

Nothing says summer blockbuster like Jurassic Park, and we’re happy to say that the classic doomed trek into an amusement park full of cloned dinosaurs is coming to Netflix on June 1. Also arriving are the series’ two less acclaimed sequels, Jurassic Park: The Lost World and Jurassic Park III, but hey, at least Jeff Goldblum is in one of ‘em. 2015’s Jurassic World hasn’t yet migrated to a streaming platform, but it seems like only a matter of time until the smash hit joins its dino film brethren.

Spotlight

In case you haven’t seen this movie, here’s some nuanced advice: Watch it. Now. Available on Netflix June 22, Spotlight follows The Boston Globe’s investigative “Spotlight” team as they follow the trail of widespread child sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests in Boston. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture, it’s an intense film that every American should see ASAP.

Bob Ross: Beauty is Everywhere

I haven’t been able to track down exactly whether this 1990 film is a documentary, drama, or compilation of the late, great TV painter’s work, but dammit: it’s Bob freaking Ross. What could be more relaxing on a summer’s day than watching the permed wonder man paint idyllic nature scenes and spout gentle wisdom?

Three to Catch Before They Leave

The Station Agent

Before Peter Dinklage played his signature role as Game of Thrones’ charismatic Tyrion Lannister, he was Finbar McBride, a lonely man with a love of railroads, in The Station Agent. Also starring Patricia Clarkson and Bobby Cannavale, the film maintains a 95% ranking on Rotten Tomatoes and has a nice quirky, summery vibe for a hot afternoon.

Paris Is Burning

With anti-trans bigotry in the news yet again, this 1990 documentary chronicling the golden age of drag ball culture in New York City is more relevant than ever. Meticulously made and excellently shot, Paris Is Burning not only offers in-depth exploration of race, class, gender and sexuality in America, but continues to give a voice to black and Hispanic gay and transgender communities.

Mulan

Perhaps the last (and best?) movie of the “Disney Renaissance,” I really don’t think I need to sell you on Mulan. Here are just the highlights: A badass female warrior princess voiced by Ming-Na Wen; Eddie Murphy as a feisty dragon sidekick; a scary-as-hell Hun bad guy; breathtaking visuals; incredible songs. What more do I need to say?
