On Monday night, before Melania Trump cribbed some of Michelle Obama’s best lines for her GOP convention speech, her husband made what has been kindly called an “unconventional” entrance to introduce her. Tonight, Jimmy Fallon’s Donald Trump took that dramatic entrance to its logical conclusion: dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” amid a cloud of smoke and lights before taking the podium.
“I know I wasn’t supposed to be on stage tonight, but our keynote speaker Alf canceled last minute,” Fallon’s Trump said. “Did you see Melania?” he asked. “She stole the show. Literally.”
“I mean, she delivered her speech like a real first lady,” he continued. “That first lady being Michelle Obama, but still.”
Fallon’s Trump proceeded to praise Scott Baio’s “fantastic and huge” speech. “I loved it so much, I’m going to put Charles in charge of the nuclear launch codes.”
