“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to meet your worst Twitter enemy in person?” Trevor Noah asked on Thursday night’s episode of The Daily Show. He was referring to the bizarre meeting at the White House earlier in the day between President Barack Obama and President-Elect Donald Trump.
Noah mocked Trump for insisting he has great “respect” for Obama, despite his history of questioning his citizenship, among other things. “Yes, it turns out he’s super nice,” the host imagined Trump saying. “Never judge a black by his cover.”
One of the things that made Noah “realize how big this change is going to be” was the Martin Luther King Jr. bust behind Trump in the Oval Office. “That bust must be thinking right now, ‘I have a nightmare.’”
“I’m sorry man, this is so surreal for me,” he added. They reportedly talked about both domestic and foreign policy, leading Noah to wonder if Trump “asked to see domestic policy’s birth certificate to make sure it wasn’t foreign.”
As for the meeting between First Lady Michelle Obama and her successor, Noah imagined Melania Trump “just plagiarizing her on the fly.”
