‘The Daily Show’s’ Trevor Noah Mocks Trump’s Bill O’Reilly-Inspired Tweet: ‘This Is Insane’

FOR REAL?

The Daily Show host wants to know why President Trump is getting his policy ideas from The O’Reilly Factor.

Seemingly out of nowhere Tuesday night, President Donald Trump posted a tweet in which he threatened to “send in the Feds” to Chicago if authorities “don’t fix the horrible ‘carnage’ going on.” But the “scariest” thing about Trump’s tweet, Daily Show host Trevor Noah said on Wednesday, was not its content but where the idea appears to have originated: The O’Reilly Factor.

“It wasn’t from some classified briefing on urban violence,” Noah explained, but rather came just about an hour after Bill O’Reilly “showed the exact same stats” on his Fox News show. “And coincidentally, Bill O’Reilly also suggested sending in the eds,” he added.

As Noah proceeded to show, the Fox News host asked if Trump could authorize federal authorities to “go in and stop” the violence on Chicago streets.

“That is insane,” Noah said. “The commander-in-chief gets his intelligence from the same place your racist grandpa does. And don’t get me wrong, I think it’s pretty cool for Bill O’Reilly. He gets to be president for an hour every single night.”

“Poor Megyn Kelly, she left Fox too soon,” he added. “She could have been the first female president, for an hour a night.”

Noah then imagined that Melania Trump might be surfing channels one night and the next thing we know her husband starts tweeting, “America must win the Storage Wars” or “Start enforcing the Vanderpump Rules and stop Viola Davis from getting away with murder!”

This is not the first time Trump has taken something he saw on cable news and promptly translated it into policy ideas on Twitter. Moments after Fox & Friends aired a segment about flag burning last November, Trump tweeted that anyone who burns the American flag should lose their citizenship or be jailed. Of course, back then he was not yet the president of the United States.
