Trevor Noah and Tomi Lahren have a history.
In late November, the South African comedian welcomed the far-right screamhead on The Daily Show, where the two went toe-to-toe on her righteous anger and apparent racial animus, including her obsession with maligning the Black Lives Matter movement and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
After the episode, Noah caught flak online from his fans for taking Lahren out for drinks and sending her cupcakes.
Well, Lahren is back in the news again. On Friday, the 24-year-old appeared on The View, where she came out as pro-choice. “I am a constitutional, y’know, someone that loves the Constitution. I’m someone that’s for limited government. So I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies,” she explained.
The backlash was swift. First her TheBlaze boss Glenn Beck came after her on Twitter, before suspending her from her program for a week.
On The Daily Show Tuesday, Noah addressed what he called this “earthquake in the media business”—one that’s been overshadowed by FBI Director James Comey’s hearing and Ted Cruz making eyes at Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.
“Jokes aside, this is not cool,” Noah said of the suspension. “If you’re a conservative network that preaches day in and day out, ‘You politically correct snowflakes get offended too easily when anyone says something you disagree with,’ and then Tomi comes out and speaks her truth, says that she’s pro-choice, and then suddenly her bosses go, ‘Oh, well you like choices? How about you choose a new job,’ that’s not cool.
“I was offended by the hypocrisy,” Noah continued. “I was so offended that I wanted to protest it. Unfortunately, there’s no type of black people protest that Tomi is comfortable with, so I guess we should just move on—because you know what they say: When God fires one white woman, he employs another.”
Noah then seamlessly transitioned to Ivanka Trump’s new White House post and its “possible conflicts of incest.”
