The blockbuster 1990 film Pretty Woman is being turned into a musical set to make its Broadway debut next fall. The musical will reportedly feature songs and lyrics written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. Tony-winning Steve Kazee will take on the role of Edward, the businessman originally played by Richard Gere. Broadway newcomer Samantha Barks will play the prostitute named Vivian, the character that made Julia Roberts a household name. Jerry Mitchell, the choreographer behind La Cage aux Folles and Kinky Boots, will direct and choreograph the musical, while Paula Wagner will act as lead producer. The musical is slated to open on Broadway in late 2018 after a spring run in Chicago due to kick off mid-March.
