Prince Albert II of Monaco has asked South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock to marry him, he announced Wednesday. The prince, 52, has ruled the principality since taking over from his dad, Rainier III, five years ago. Wittstock taught school and is a backstroke champion. The pair have been dating for two years and apparently have not set a date. Albert has kids from previous relationships, but Monaco’s constitution says they can’t take the throne because they are “love children”—only “direct and legitimate” children can wear the crown.
