Ruth Madoff Dissed at Son's Funeral

Ruth Madoff had to mourn her son Mark on her own after being turned away by his widow at the funeral, a family friend told People magazine. Bernard Madoff’s sons Mark and Andrew had cut off contact with their mother after she returned to their father’s side in 2009, following his beating in prison. Mark hanged himself late last year, on the second anniversary of his father’s arrest. According to a Madoff family friend, Ruth told her, “At night, it gets to me—the shame, the disgrace, all the stuff that killed Mark.”
