The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were greeted by a crowd of several thousand in Ottawa. “We want Kate!” the crowds shouted, to which Middleton replied, “Thank you so much. We are so delighted to be here.” Prince William laid a wreath at Canada’s Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. Soon after, he gave his first official remarks during a welcome event at the governor general’s residence. William said, “Catherine and I are so delighted to be here in Canada…We have been looking forward to this moment for a very long time – and before we were married, we had a longing to come here together.” He used both French and English in his remarks.
