Time was when British Prime Minister David Cameron shied away from the News of the World phone-hacking scandal—especially seeing as how the tabloid’s former editor was his spokesman. But a stream of embarrassing revelations in the last two days has spurred Cameron to act, telling Parliament that there will be a full public inquiry. "It is absolutely disgusting, what has taken place, and I think everyone in this house and indeed this country will be revolted by what they have heard and what they have seen on their television screens," he said. Meanwhile, the opposition Labour Party continued to bash him over hiring Andy Coulson, the former News of the World editor who later resigned as Cameron’s spokesman. Cameron’s call comes after it was revealed that the paper deleted voicemails from the phone of a disappeared teen; that it hacked the phones of families of victims of the 2005 London bombings; and that Coulson authorized payments to police.
