Georgia Men Accused of Terror Plot

HOMEGROWN

Allegedly wanted to kill government officials.

Federal authorities have arrested four members of a militia in Georgia for allegedly planning terrorist attacks. According to conversations with informants, one of the four men, 73-year-old Frederick Thomas, had a “bucket list” of government officials, business people, and members of the media whom he wanted “taken out.” “There’s no way for us, as militiamen, to save this country, to save Georgia, without doing something that’s highly illegal: murder,” Thomas allegedly told an informant. “When it comes to saving the Constitution, that means some people gotta die.” Defendant Dan Roberts is accused of seeking castor beans to make the deadly toxin ricin, while another, Samuel J. Crump, allegedly said he wanted to make 10 pounds of ricin to disperse in U.S. cities, including Atlanta.
