Chamber of Commerce Defends Romney

Enough Already

Chamber president urged Gingrich and Perry to cut the Bain attacks.

Just about everyone is sick of hearing Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry slam Mitt Romney’s work at Bain Capital, including the Chamber of Commerce. Chamber president Tom Donohue spoke at the State of American Business 2012 event in Washington Thursday and called the candidates’ attacks on their rival “foolish.” Donohue noted that it is not typical for the chamber to weigh in on politics, but he “was very disappointed with the intramural carrying on within the Republican Party … We think Romney’s had a pretty good track record. Perfect? Hell no. But damn good.”
