Saturday Night Live honored the death of pop singer Whitney Houston last night, which must have come as a shock to the cast and crew. With no time to mount a long tribute, the show put up a still photo of a smiling and beautiful Houston, alongside Molly Shannon, in an appearance in 1996. (Houston was the musical guest twice on SNL, when Rosie O’Donnell hosted that year and in 1991 when Alec Baldwin hosted.) Next week the host will be former cast member Maya Rudolph, who is known for her over-the-top impressions of Houston in the past.
