Bob Turner Seeks Gillibrand's Senate Seat

Plotting

Redistricting could eliminate House position.

Rep. Bob Turner, who snagged Anthony Weiner's spot in the House following his sexting scandal, has set his sights on New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's seat. Turner's House seat is vulnerable to redistricting and moving his focus to the Senate is a sign that his seat might be one of the two that will be lost in the process. He confirmed to Politico, "I will travel to the Republican State Convention in Rochester later this week and humbly ask for the Republican nomination for the United States Senate. I will respectfully ask for the Conservative nomination a few days later at that party's convention. I have made my intentions known to the other Republican candidates in this race." Turner would join three other Republicans considering going up against Gillibrand, including New York City judicial activist Wendy Long. The chairman of the Brooklyn GOP has already encouraged county chairs throughout New York to support Turner.
