"Guys, it's the middle of summer, it's the dolldrums, it's the middle of the Olympics," one of Mitt's advisors rationalized when asked about recent polls showing President Obama in the lead. In fact, the advisor suggested that, since Gallup and Rasmussen numbers have seen virtually no change, the polls showing Obama ahead must be wrong. "You've got to precipitate that kind of sea change... It hasn't changed, it is still the same as it was a month ago in terms of attitudes toward the economy," he said.
