It’s officially almost official. Apple Inc. will unveil its iPad Mini on Oct. 23, a source familiar with the event told Reuters. Though the company has remained mum on its smaller, less expensive version of the iPad, techie insiders have leaked some deets about this new-and-improved tablet. The Mini is rumored to sport a screen between 7 and 8 inches—the perfect size for a tablet designed to compete with Kindles and Nexuses, which have 7-inch screens and are modestly priced at $199. According to the anonymous source, Apple is strategically unveiling its new tablet days before Microsoft unveils its new Surface tablet on Oct. 26.
