In a cruel affront to the memory of the man who championed nonviolence and peaceful protest, a shooting at a parade honoring Martin Luther King Jr. in Jackson, Miss., has left one injured. The police are currently on the lookout for the gunman, who opened fire at the parade Saturday shortly after noon. The victim, a 23-year-old man, is in stable condition after suffering a wound to the chest. Also on Saturday, three people were shot at a North Carolina gun show when a shotgun was accidentally discharged. Pro-gun activists rallied in 49 states today, in protest of President Obama’s gun control proposals.
