The plans for the world's first 3D printed handgun, The Liberator, were scrubbed from the Internet by the Pentagon on Thursday. The plans, which give anyone with access to a 3D printer the ability to make a gun, were posted online Monday by Cody Wilson, founder of the website Defense Distributed. More than 100,000 copies of the plans were downloaded before Uncle Sam stepped in. “[Defense Distributed's] files are being removed from public access at the request of the U.S. Department of Defense Trade Controls," says the website. "Until further notice, the United States government claims control of the information.”
