Was Congress worried that Chechens didn’t like Under Siege? Sources told Politico that actor Steven Seagal wanted to be part of a congressional trip to Chechnya, but that lawmakers backed out at the last minute. The trip is part of a House committee’s investigation into the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, who were of Chechen origin. Seagal reportedly “facilitated” the trip (he apparently is friends with Russian President Vladimir Putin), but lawmakers were wary of traveling to the region with Putin, given his human-right records. Maybe Hollywood will decide to make a movie out of it anyway.
