Rescue workers in the northern part of India continued to find more bodies Monday as they searched for survivors and cleared debris in villages pummeled by massive flooding. The death toll from the torrential rains is expected to exceed 1,000, according to Home Minister Sushikumar Shinde. Bad weather and two landslides have impeded rescue efforts as more than 10,000 remain stranded. The deluge also decimated roads and ruined other infrastructure, making it difficult to reach those trapped in the mountainous region.
