Televisions are leading to serious head trauma in kids—and we're not talking about brain-rotting. Toppling TVs sent more than 300,000 U.S. children to the emergecy room over the last two decades, according to a study published in the journal Pediatrics on Monday. The study found that injuries are “increasing at an alarming rate.” In fact, a child ends up in the ER every 30 minutes after being smacked on the noggin by a wobbly television set, leading to concussions and other head and neck injuries. Most children were under the age of 5, the study found, though it’s unclear whether a majority of injuries were due to falling flat screens or precariously perched old tube TVs.
