‘The Simpsons’ To Kill Major Character

SAY HELLO TO MAUD

Exec producer Al Jean says someone will “pass away” in Season 25 or 26.

Start placing those bets now. Simpsons executive producer Al Jean announced on Tuesday that a major character will “pass away” in season 25 or 26. While Jean wouldn’t say who, he teased that “the actor playing this character won an Emmy” for the role—although almost all the character actors on The Simpsons have won Emmys at some point. Jean said the story will be produced throughout this season, the show’s 25th, but it might not actually occur on-screen until the 26th season. Over the years, The Simpsons has killed off seven characters, including Maud Flanders. Although Jean wouldn’t give any more clues, he did say he hoped the stunt would bring in Breaking Bad-type number of viewers.
