Notebooks covering the case of murdered teenager Milly Dowler went missing at the now-defunct tabloid the News of the World, according to the prosecution at a London court Monday in the phone-hacking trial of former News International chief Rebekah Brooks and seven others. Prosecutors allege former Brooks and others hid the evidence, the defendants deny all the charges. When the allegations about the tabloid hacking Dowler’s phone emerged, the public uproar caused News International to shut down the paper in July 2011. Brooks, her husband Charlie Brooks, and six former News International staffers are on trial in connection to phone hacking.
