Twelve-year-old Vanessa VanDyke says she’s got one week to decide whether she wants to cut her hair or leave her Orlando school. Apparently, her natural look has become a distraction, violating the Faith Christian Academy dress code. School administrators have not commented on the issue, but VanDyke and her mother don’t plan to cut her hair to accommodate the school, especially since they say the young girl’s hair only became a problem once other students started teasing her about it. “I’m depressed about leaving my friends and people that I’ve known for a while, but I’d rather have that then the principals and administrators picking on me and saying that I should change my hair,” VanDyke said.”
