Greta Gerwig, the Golden Globe-nominated star of Frances Ha, has signed on to play the title character of CBS’s How I Met Your Mother spinoff, How I Met Your Dad. Gerwig, who is notable for her high-brow independent-film work, will also be a producer and writer on the project. The show will reportedly only be similar to How I Met Your Mother in its use of flashback storytelling, and will instead have all new characters and stories. Gerwig’s character is described as “a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going in life.”
