Just as Hillary Clinton gets her 2016 presidential campaign going, her 2008 run gets caught in a campaign-finance scandal. According to D.C. businessman Jeffrey Thompson, Clinton aide Minyon Moore sought illegal campaign contributions from him totaling $608,750, to fund underground pro-Clinton operations in four states and Puerto Rico. Thompson is accused by federal prosecutors of making unreported donations to candidates. Thompson implicated Moore on Monday while pleading guilty to federal conspiracy charges in a broader investigation focused on the 2010 Washington, D.C. mayoral election. Prosecutors say there is no evidence to suggest that Clinton herself was aware of the supposed scheming. Burns Strider, a longtime Clinton aide who now works for Correct the Record, a pro-Hillary PAC, called the allegations "bizarre and brazenly false" and the Washington Post story "horse shit."
