Fans of the Late Show could have been sitting down with Barney Stinson every night. Neil Patrick Harris told Howard Stern that he was approached to take over the legendary show when David Letterman announced his retirement, but turned it down due to fears of getting bored. “I think I would get bored of the repetition fast and the structure of it is so set that I don’t have any interest in doing monologue or commercial—sketch, sketch, guest, musical act,” he said. Stephen Colbert is filling Letterman’s shoes when he departs next year.
